Who the heck is “Hammond’s Folly?”
hammond’s folly is the stage name of folk singer and scumbag, kyle douglas harrison.
kyle comes from the tame streets of of the jersey shore and developed his love for folk music over years of playing traditional irish tunes in pubs across new york city.
he’s now a long-haired, generally-barefooted performer who travels between the florida panhandle, southern california, and the jersey shore. he mostly writes songs about weather and God.
outside of his silly folk songs, kyle is an emmy award-winning screenwriter and street artist whose work has been featured in major media outlets and museums.
and the name?
well, in 1962, bob dylan released his first album, produced by john hammond. it flopped. but hammond still believed in his protege, earning dylan the nickname “hammond’s folly” amongst columbia records executives. they thought he sucked.
57 years later, kyle thought it’d be funny to adopt the name.
